Three Mountains of Great Skiing
Hunter Mountain ski area features over 240 acres of skiable land, 11 lifts, 1,600 feet of vertical drop, the Empire terrain park, and snow tubing. The 55 trails are fairly evenly distributed into beginner, intermediate and advanced runs. In addition to great skiing, this ski area also hosts huge events throughout the season, most notably specialty races and TAP New York, one of the state’s best microbrew festivals.
Off the Slopes
If you’re interested in making your vacation a stay-and-play, Hunter Mountain makes it easy because of three slope-side lodging options, The Kaatskill Mountain club, the Pinnacle Condominiums, and the Liftside Village and Trailside at Hunter Condominiums. There are also extensive lodging options near the resort ranging from historic hotels, Victorian bed and breakfasts, and gothic-style inns. The area also has a host of activities ranging from sleigh rides and antiquing to snowmobiling and horseback riding.
Hunter Mountain also has plenty of dining, drinking, and après-ski options on site. There are over ten different places to eat alone! Andre’s Slopeside Barbeque, Santini’s and VanWinkle’s Restaurant are among the most popular places to eat at the resort. There are also a variety of dining options in the area surrounding the resort, notably the Chateau Belleview a renowned, historic and authentic French restaurant that’s housed in a beautiful hundred year old chateau.
Getting Here
Hunter Mountain is easy to get to, and thanks to its proximity to New York City it is accessible from many major airports. Albany International and Stewart International are the closest airports, but JFK and LaGuardia International Airport are only two hours from the resort. There are also many chartered bus lines to choose from that drop you off on Hunter Mountain Resort’s doorstep. By car, a mere half-hour drive from exit 30 on the New York State Thruway.
