7 Ways Kids Ski Free in Colorado & Utah

Many ski areas in Colorado are enticing students to the slopes early and often with free skiing. Lots of resorts offer free skiing for kids that are five and younger. If your family also includes a student in the 4th, 5th or 6th grades, then you’re in for an extra bonus.

Ski passport programs provide students in the 4th-6th grade free skiing all season long at many resorts. If your children are older, you can still enjoy special rates that reduce the cost of their lift tickets at selected areas. To make your planning easy, we’ve assembled a list of the many options available. Most programs are free and need early registration and some require a small fee or purchase.

Epic Schoolkids Pack: Vail Resorts grants Colorado students in grades K-5th with four days of free skiing at Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge and Keystone. The program also grants Utah kids four free days at Park City, which now includes Canyons.

Ski Utah’s 5th & 6th Grade Passport: For a small processing fee of $35, any 5th grader ski three times free at each of Utah’s 14 resorts (42 days of skiing). 6th graders get one time free at each resort (14 free days). This applies to any child worldwide; they don’t have to live in Utah.

Colorado Ski Country Passport: 5th graders ski for free for three days each at 20 Colorado member resorts (that’s 60 days of free skiing). 6th graders get four days of skiing at each of these resorts (80 days) for $99 – well worth the money.

Copper Mountain, CO: “One. Two. Free!” program provides children age 12 and younger free lift access with at least two night’s stay at Copper’s lodging. You’ll also get the third night’s lodging free, along with other discounts.

Keystone, CO: Stay at least 2 nights in their lodging, and kids age 12 and younger ski free, with no blackout dates.

Steamboat Springs, CO: Children 12 and younger can ski free the same number of days as their parents when the adult purchases a 5+ day adult lift ticket.

Loveland, CO: Loveland provides locals (children or adults) with a free season pass if you buy three full-day lesson packages.
