Windham Mountain Ski Vacation Guide

This is one of the best family-friendly resorts in the nation. Beautiful runs, well-groomed trails, an excellent ski school and a fun tubing park are just a few of the highlights. Nestled in the northeastern Catskill Mountains of New York it’s close to both Albany and New York City, which makes it incredibly convenient to reach.

Ski Levels

Windham Mountain boasts 260 acres of skiable land, 46 different trails which provide skiers of all ability levels ample runs. The mountain also features 10 lifts that carry skiers and boarders up nearly 1,600 feet of vertical. The resort boasts 98 percent snow-making capabilities and nightly grooming, so the terrain is always in top shape There are a wide variety of lessons available for all ages and experience levels. In addition to great skiing and affordable lessons there is ice-skating and snow tubing available right at the mountain.

Après Ski

The nearby town of Windham offers museums, shops, art galleries and even has its own brewery, the Cave Mountain Brewing Company. There are plenty of different places to stay both on and around Windham Mountain. Visitors seeking off the mountain lodging should check out the Bavarian Manor Country Inn & Restaurant as well as the Albergo Allegria Hotel. For visitors that do want to stay on the mountain, The Winwood Inn is located slope side and provides great and affordable lodging. Many of the areas accommodation partners up with the resort for the season and offers amazing ski and stay deals throughout the winter. From budget motels to luxury condominiums Windham has something to suit all tastes and budgets. Windham has several fantastic dining and drinking options. Be sure to check out the Waffle Cabin, the Patio BBQ, and the Wunderbar Café. The Rock’n Mexicana Cantina + Grill is the most popular location on the mountain and Legend’s Bar and Grill offers a warm and inviting après ski environment.

Riders Guide: Windham Mountain provides beautiful slopes and trails for all age groups and experience levels to enjoy, the resort has over 260 acres of terrain and 46 different trails. The resort has 10 different lifts can take 16,500 people up their 1,600 feet of vertical rise every hour.




Parks and Pipes: Windham Mountain features various parks, including the Jib Park, the Warm Up Park, the Lower Wraparound Park, and the Lower Warpath park. The Jib park features great rails, while the Warm Up Trail has some great hits and difficult jumps. The Lower Wraparound Park is the beginner’s park, while the Lower Warpath Park is for intermediate level park riders who have started to gain their footing and confidence in park riding.




The park also features the “Big Air Bag”, a giant inflatable bag that allows riders to try out insane tricks with soft, safe landings. The bag makes it safe to try out new tricks, which gives riders the opportunity to whip out their most difficult tricks and toughest landings without injury.




Out of Bounds: The resort also has ice-skating and snow tubing. There are also a variety of lessons taught by highly qualified instructors. The town of Windham has historic buildings, museums, galleries and shopping.




Hangout & Hookup: There are plenty of places slope side to grab some food and drinks at Windham Mountain. Check out the Rock’n Mexicana Cantina + Grill, located right at the mountain or Legends Pub and Grill for lively après ski environments. The Waffle Cabin, Patio BBQ, and Wunderbar Café are also popular places to dine and conveniently located right at the resort. The town of Windham has its own brewery, The Cave Mountain Brewing Company which is definitely worth visiting.




The Deal: Windham Mountain is only a two hour drive from Long Island, Winchester, and New York City. The mountain is less than an hour for Albany. By car, take the New York Thruway to Highway 32 which leads right to the doorstep of the resort. There are also several bus companies that offer service from New York City.
