Plattekill Mountain is a no-frills, low-key resort that focuses its energies on providing the best skiing in the area.
Plattekill Mountain is a family friendly resort that features 35 different trails for riders of all ages and experience levels. Spread out over 75 acres the runs are distributed as follows, 20 percent beginner, 40 percent intermediate, 20 percent expert and 20 percent advanced. There are three lifts and the longest trail, the Powder Puff, is two-miles long. The steepest trail, the double-black “Blockbuster” plummets down 1,100 vertical feet. There is also a terrain park for freestyle skiers. Take on of their many lessons available, ranging from private to group lessons for both beginners and more advanced skiers. There is also a tubing park on the mountain, which can be a welcome diversion from skiing.
There is no slope-side lodging offered at Plattekill, but each year the resort teams up with local lodging to offer spectacular ski and stay deals to visitors of the Catskills each winter. Whether it’s historic estates, charming inns, boutique hotels or modest budget motels, the area has something to suit everyone’s tastes. The area offers a few dining options, including a grab and go snack shack, restaurant, and a bar that makes the perfect après ski stop. The nearby towns of Roxbury and Margaretville offer other dining and drinking options.

Plattekill Mountain has one terrain park, Nolan’s Park, so far, but the resort is dedicated to funding continuing projects that help grow and expand Plattekill Mountain. Nolan’s Park features solid jumps, rails, and boxes and they add new features each season.
There are plenty of things to do in Roxbury including bowling, ice skating, antiquing and shopping. Snow tubing is available on the mountain for those who are looking to have some fun in the snow without their snowboards. There are also several restaurants and bars that offer warm drinks on cold days, both slope side and in nearby towns.
Check out local eateries in Roxbury, or the food available at the base lodge restaurant. There is no slopeside lodging available at Plattekill, but plenty of local accommodation offer awesome ski and stay deals during the winter. The T-Bar Motel is not only affordable but has an on-site saloon and restaurant.
Getting to Plattekill is simple. It is 1.5 hours from Albany, New York and 3 hours from both New York City and Long Island. It’s proximity to major airports makes flying into the area easy and affordable. By car it’s 3 miles off of Route 30 near Roxbury, New York. There is also public transportation that gets you to or near Plattekill Mountain. The Adirondack Trailways bus service is available from New York City and other points south. Amtrak trains offer service to Rhinecliff, NY which is an hour from Plattekill.
