Bolton Valley Ski Vacation Guide

Ski Levels

Bolton offers 300 skiable acres on more than 70 trails almost equally distributed by ability levels.  Two quad lifts provide riders access to the mountain’s 3,150-foot summit with a 1,704 foot vertical.  At least three lifts service the other areas of the mountain.  With a high base area that sits at 1,446 feet, and 81% snowmaking capacity, the trails receive plenty of top-to-bottom snow throughout the season.

Riders can find their perfect niche among Bolton’s three diverse terrain parks that progress in the size and quantity of boxes and rails to test riders’ skills.  Those who want to explore the backcountry can take advantage of the guided tours, lessons and rental equipment for skiing and snowshoeing.

The ski school offers group and private lessons for children over the age of four, teens and adults new to skiing. Ski lessons are also available for those that want to advance their skill, or to try backcountry skiing.

Après Ski

After a day on the hill, guests can relax at the Sports Center Bar in the Nordic center, or enjoy food and drink in the Fireside Flatbread restaurant.  Live music and entertainment is offered at the James Moore Tavern on the top floor of the Base Lodge.  The bar is open late on weekends and offers local beers on tap, or custom drinks like their “Peppermint Patty” (Schnapps & hot chocolate).

Rider’s Guide

Bolton’s diverse portfolio of 70+ trails on more than 300 acres of skiable land offers many choices for all ability levels.  More than 25 intermediate and almost as many beginner trails intertwine to provide consistent groomed runs.   Advanced and expert skiers and riders can ski at least eight glades in Bolton’s network, or opt for the more than 60 miles of Nordic groomed and ungroomed trails in the backcountry.  Those new to glade skiing can start with intermediate glade runs that are a rare find.

Parks & Pipes

Riders working to hone their tricks, rail slides and jumps can find just the right topography among Bolton’s three diverse and progressive terrain parks.  All three parks are accessible from the Snowflake lift and offer progressive challenges.  The Grom Park contains small features that are low to the ground and is perfect for new freestyle riders.  The rail garden, Jungle Jib, contains medium and large rails, boxes, and jibs for practicing intermediate tricks and turns. The Butterscotch Terrain Park is the largest park, a slopestyle course set up for the advanced rider that contains medium to large features, flowing from top to bottom.

Night skiing is a popular activity at Bolton.  They also offer skiers and riders a chance to compete for prizes in their illuminated terrain parks. Eight glades are available including a couple of intermediate runs for those riders new to tree skiing, and several advanced and expert runs.
