This is a jewel of a ski area that sits on top of Wolf Creek Pass just off Highway 160. The town has coined the phrase “The most snow in Colorado” and it’s true with more than 450 inches of the white stuff falling on its diverse terrain every year.
Enjoying the Powder
The mountain offers high alpine skiing and riding on both groomed and often powder conditions, including the new Horseshoe Bowl with 200 new acres of great glade skiing and riding. Off the Slopes
The ski area is perfectly situated between the towns of Pagosa Springs and South Fork. These two towns offer a wide variety of restaurants, lodging options from economy to upscale, and numerous year-round indoor and outdoor recreational activities for everyone to enjoy including: fly fishing, horseback riding, hiking mountain biking, skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, shopping, guided tours, hunting, sightseeing, wildlife watching, and much more. Pagosa Springs is a hub for recreation and tourism in the “Four Corners” Area. The town is situated on the valley floor next to the San Juan River, and surrounded by the spectacular San Juan Mountains. The town adopted its name from the areas Great Pagosa’s Hot Springs (one of the largest mineral springs in the world). In addition, Pagosa Springs offers a range of amenities and accommodations for the destination vacation traveler.
The town of South Fork is only 18 miles from Wolf Creek and located at the southwestern end of the San Luis Valley. It was initially developed as a community servicing the lumber and mining industries of the mid- to late- 1800’s. Since then, South Fork has grown into a tourist and recreation center. The town is surrounded by almost two million acres of national forests and hosts the access point to Highway 149. This route takes you on a 75-mile scenic and historic byway through the “Silver Thread Country” including the historic towns of Lake City and Creede. Like Pagosa Springs, South Fork has numerous businesses and lodging options that cater to the destination vacationer.
