Whitetail Resort

Whitetail Resort is located atop Two Top Mountain in the Tuscarora Mountains, near the foot of the Appalachians in southern Pennsylvania. It’s nestled amidst lush alpine forests, crystalline waterways, and stunning mountain peaks, but also conveniently near two major metropolitan areas, Baltimore and Washington DC. The resort has put in a lot of time, money, and effort in to growing and developing the region’s premier ski resort.

Southern Pennsylvania’s Ski Mountain

The resort boasts pretty impressive statistics, which make it one of the larger ski areas in the region. There are 23 trails total, 935 feet of vertical, two terrain parks, 100 percent snowmaking, and a halfpipe. There is also night skiing every night during the season, so that guests can maximize their time on the slopes. The resort, which was opened in 1992, was specifically designed to separate different ability levels in order to maximize the enjoyment for all. The first timers, easy, intermediate, and difficult sections are lined up in sequence across the mountain, and each is fed by a different lift system and contains trails that connect each area to its neighboring area. Whitetail’s trails are a series of parallels, which are noted for the steady, sustained pitch of their vertical drop.

Off the Slopes

The resort feels slightly western with a modern twist. The improvements at the resort recently run the gamut from better snowmaking technology to new runs and larger facilities. In addition to improvements the resort offers a complimentary ski check, daycare, basket check, lockers, changing rooms and a sports shop for added convenience. The resort offers basic services and with a friendly, knowledgeable staff, visitors will have access to everything that they need.

There is no lodging slope side at Whitetail but they do have exclusive partnerships with nearly a dozen lodgings in the area, many of which offer great ski and stay vacation deals during the winter. Regardless of whether guests seek the modern comforts of a vacation rental home, romantic inns, cozy hotel rooms or spacious suites, the Whitetail Resort region has something to suit all tastes and budgets. There are two restaurants located on the mountain along with an on-site Starbucks. The nearby town of Mercerburg, Pennsylvania and Clear Spring, Maryland have additional eateries, supermarkets and shopping. There is also a snowtubing hill located on the mountainside, which is perfect for all ages, and is open at night along with the rest of the resort. Additional activities include historic walks, great outlet shopping, antiquing, and more.

A trip to Whitetail promises adventure, fun, excitement and more. Situated in a stunning landscape near quaint rural townships, yet close to major metropolitan areas, there’s something for everyone at Whitetail Resort in southern Pennsylvania.
