Sipapu Ski and Summer Resort is located about 20 miles south of Taos, New Mexico. It's a smaller ski resort than many others in the Rockies, and perfect for a family fun, ski vacation getaway. It's a fast-growing resort that is family-owned and operated since 1952. Though the resort is smaller than many, it has the longest ski season and some of the lowest ski ticket prices in the Rocky Mountains. Oldest Ski Resort in New Mexico

New Mexico's oldest ski resort is bordered by the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, as well as Carson National Forest. With over 40 trails and two terrain parks, experienced to beginner skiers will love this mountain. Slope-side lodging, a ski school, and a family-friendly atmosphere are some of the key perks. With over 200 skiable acres, 190 annual inches of snowfall, and a vertical drop of 1,055 feet, conditions are always ripe for skiing. Snowmaking covers 70 percent of the mountain. Most of the slopes are for intermediate and advanced skiers, but about 20 percent are great for beginners.

Off the Slopes

The lodging options are designed to suit every family and every budget. Hotels, duplexes, cabins, motels, lodge rooms, and even mobile homes are available. There are RV parks and campsites, bunk rooms. and apartments in Sipapu. Several units have full kitchens and bedrooms for those who want a more home-style lodging.

While sledding and tubing aren't allowed at the resort itself, there are some nearby hills designed just for that. But those who want to ski, snowboard, snowblade, and ski bike will find plenty to keep them busy. Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing are available a short drive away the resort, as well.

Getting Here

Sipapu is 55 miles from Las Vegas, 65 miles from Santa Fe, and just 20 miles from Taos. Coming out of Taos, you take Hwy 68 South then go left on Hwy 518 for a scenic 20-mile drive.
