Le Massif

At one point in your life, you owe it to yourself to visit North America's oldest, civilized winter sports center, the captivating Quebec City area. Founded in 1608 by explorer, Samuel de Champlain, this walled city has evolved from a primitive fortified outpost to the Capital of the Province of Quebec and one of the world's top tourist destinations.

You won't find a faux, theme park-style, old-world city here. But you will discover an authentic, walled city with caleches traveling its narrow, cobblestoned lanes. Oh sure, the city has been updated with all the modern conveniences visitors demand, but at its heart, the city is still a walking town. One where couples stroll, hand-in hand, dropping into inviting bistros or antique shops after a day, or evening, on the slopes of nearby Mont Sainte-Anne, Stoneham or Le Relais. Romance and music are as intrinsic to Quebec City as skyscrapers are to Manhattan.

Off the Slopes

For families, there's outdoor ice skating in the heart of the theater district, cross-country skiing on the infamous Plains of Abraham—where French forces were defeated by English invaders in 1752—year-round zoos and aquariums to see, educational museums to visit, a restored Victorian era toboggan chute to enjoy, and countless, delightful surprises on almost every corner.

From city center, the ski areas are a short, 20 minute shuttle or car ride away. For those who prefer to be slopeside, Stoneham and Mont Sainte-Anne offer a variety of attractive hotel and condominium ski and stay packages.

No matter whether you decide to stay in the city, or slopeside, no visit to the region is complete without taking the time to savor the delights of the old city. And don't miss, the legendary Quebec Winter Carnival, one of the world's premiere winter spectacles and party, held annually, late January through mid-February!

Quebec City is easily reached by train, plane, bus, or private automobile.
