Keystone

The mountain base of Keystone is at 9,280 feet, and 3,128 vertical feet at the summit. That’s 2,870 acres of ski and snowboard terrain to play! The resort is situated just off I-70 near Lake Dillon (which makes it the closest ski resort to Denver). Here you are, right down the road from Breckenridge and Arapahoe Basin. To top it all off, those three and Copper Mountain Resort are all linked by free bus service, the Summit Stage, so that you can ski all resorts with one pass.

Summit County Skiing

The historical silver mines and stagecoach runs of the late 1800s are now replaced by state-of-the-art equipment, accessible ski runs, and excellent powder. You haven’t lived until you’ve gone cat skiing, standing at the lip, 12,000 feet high, with an entire mountain of virgin powder before you. On the opposite end, tubing takes on an entirely different meaning here. Glide down the tube trail in a guided groove for a real ground-speed rush. For the snowboarders: the A51 terrain park has been ranked in Transworld Snowboarding’s Top 10 Parks. Rub elbows (and maybe pick up a few tips) with local snowboard stars like Bob Burrell, Rob Faller, and John Sasso. A51 has 30 rails and six wall rides this year, and the Superpipe has been moved, so you’ll get more rides each day. Get more information on skiing and snowboarding at Keystone with Ski Experience and Terrain Parks.

Off the Slopes

Because the four resort areas of Summit County are so accessible with the Summit Stage free shuttle, there are plenty of options for you and your family. There is great nightlife, outstanding restaurants, and even daycare. There are impressive dining options because a culinary institute is situated on the mountain. Excellent skiing and snowboarding, fine dining or casual restaurants, brew pubs, and bars — you don’t need much more for a great vacation.

Getting Here

Keystone is located 90 miles west of Denver International Airport, making it an easily accessed ski resort. Travel west on I-70 and take the Silverthorne/Dillon exit. Stop in Idaho Springs for pizza or ice cream along the way!
