Big Boulder

In the breathtaking Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, Big Boulder is a seasonal ski paradise. The resort offers premier skiing, snowboarding and tubing. Located only a few hours’ drive from the New York City metropolitan area and just about an hour from Philadelphia, Big Boulder is a convenient getaway for East Coasters and a great destination for anyone who wants to mix it up.

Big Boulder is a sister resort to Jack Frost, so a lift ticket purchased at one resort is good for access to the other resort.

A Skier-Friendly Resort

The one-of-a-kind resort devotes almost 70 percent of its overall terrain to park features. There is a total of 16 slopes and the longest run is more than a half-mile long. About 40 percent of terrain is dedicated to beginners while 35 is set aside for intermediate skiers. Another 25 percent of terrain is for experts or advanced skiers only. Big Boulder presents five double-chair lifts, two triple-chair lifts, a ski carpet and a pair of tubing tows.

Big Boulder is a great vacation for families and newbies who want to learn how to ski. All programs are taught by PSIA-certified instructors for ages 3 and older. There are also private and group lessons, and a Snowmonsters program for kids age 3-10, and workshops for both women and seniors. Adaptive lessons are available on the weekends.

A Picturesque Poconos Getaway

The Poconos offers a variety of outdoor activities ranging from ice skating and ice fishing to snowmobiling and outlet shopping in the nearby town of Tannersville. For dining, there’s an endless list of wonderful restaurants who present an array of world cuisine.

There is no slopeside lodging, but several local hotels, private homes, condos, resorts and bed and breakfasts offer incredible ski and stay vacation packages during the winter. Area resorts have spacious rooms, full kitchens and comfy living spaces with all of today’s modern conveniences. Most offer convenient and complimentary transportation to and from both Jack Frost and Big Boulder.
