6 Ways to Learn to Ski & Ride in the Northwest and Southwest

It is no secret that learning to ski or snowboard costs money. However, during National Ski and Snowboard Month in January, many resorts throughout the country offer all-inclusive packages for beginners that cover everything you need to learn to slide downhill.
New skiers and snowboarders can learn to ski and ride with packages that covers all of the basics for rock-bottom prices. Here are just some of the many packages that make learning to ski and ride in the Northwest and Southwest easy, and affordable.

IDAHO

Brundage’s VIP Beginner Learning Program teaches new skiers to ski and ride if four days, and then rewards participants with a season pass the morning of the 4th lesson. Group lessons start at $39, and rentals are a flat $20. Back-to-back lessons can be scheduled consecutive days, or spread through the season.

Schweitzer Mountain’s first time skiers or snowboarder packages includes a beginner lift ticket, lesson and basic rental package, all for $39 for skiers and riders ages 7 and up.

OREGON

Guests will have more time to take advantage of Mt. Bachelor’s Ski or Ride in 5 packages, which starts January 4 and runs through March 18, 2016, weather permitting. The $199 package includes five lessons, five rentals and five lift tickets, with preferred parking. After completing the five lessons, participants receive gifts that include a free Winter Season Pass or 12 Day Pass good for the rest of the 2015-2016 winter season. In addition, skiers and riders will receive a significant discount (amount to be determined) on Winter Season Passes for the next two years. Participants must register by January 31 and holiday blackout dates include President’s weekend February 13-15.

NEVADA

Diamond Peak’s Learn to Ski & Ride packages are $39 for ages 7 and up, and runs January 11- 15. The package includes a beginner lift ticket, rentals and a lesson. Diamond also offers a nice $39 2-hour Learn to Ski package for younger children ages 4-7.

WASHINGTON

Mt. Spokane’s package covers a series of three lessons, three lift tickets and three rentals, all for $99. The EZ-Ski or Ride package must be purchased in January, but can be used at any time during the 2015-2016 winter ski season.

WYOMING

Grand Targhee Resort’s 1-2-3 Start Me Up in January also offers a series of lessons, and a season pass for $279. Purchase the package in January and participants ages 6 and up will receive three group lessons, three rentals, and three all-day lift tickets. The season pass is awarded upon completion of the third lesson and is valid for the rest of the ski season.
